Michael Wittman ( April 22, 1914 - August 8, 1944 ) was a German tank commander in WW2 . He was credited with the destruction of 138 tanks and 132 anti-tank guns and an unknown other armored Fahreuge , which made him one of the German Panzer aces with the most kills . Wittmann was famous for his surprise attack , he performed on 13 June 1944 by the Battle of Villers - Bocage against parts of the 7th British Armoured Division . With 5 other Tiger I he destroyed within 15 minutes 12 tanks , 10 half-tracks , 2 personnel carriers and 2 antitank guns , said Wittmann most kills were attributed .
